PURPOSE OF THIS PAGE MY BACKGROUND Over the summer of 2007, I saw an ad for ancestry.com and remembered how much fun I had helping my mother when I was fifteen and I thought it might kill some time over the holiday weekend digging through her folders and refreshing my memory. Within a week or two, I was completely hooked and spending most of my time researching. Within a few months, I had not only gone through all of my mother’s materials, but I had started to bug the crap out of my father’s mother for my dad’s side of the family. I lost my job in the fall of 2007 and was unable to immediately find a new one. I hate being inactive, I hate sitting at home and watching television so I really threw myself into the research. I learned a great deal about traveling by myself (I’m used to dragging my mother along) and finding new trails without being pointed in the direction. It was a great independence builder and a good way to keep my sanity. The more I find out about my family, the more I want to know. I don’t have the financial freedom to dig in the way I’d like but over the next year, I hope to flesh out my research more. WHERE ELSE YOU CAN FIND ME |
