I’ve been doing a little work here and there on my genealogy, but the new semester at my new university just started so most of the stuff I’ll be doing over the next few weeks is tidying up this blog and my records.

One of the main things I’d like to tackle is the posts that link to anything remotely English geography related. My understanding of nineteenth century English geography has improved somewhat, so I hope to fix some of them and fill in information for some of the various locations that are just blank right now.

I am hoping to have a new theme at some point as this one is kind of tired and makes my head hurt.

• I found an entry for a William Winstanley that died in the area he lived but this William died in 1874, before Eliza’s last two children are born. I am planning on sending for Clara and Ann’s birth records to see what father is listed and also sending for this William’s death record to see how much it matches up. Perhaps my ancestor Eliza had an active widowhood!
• Related to above: I sent for a copy of Ann Eliza Winstanley’s birth record to see who, if anyone, was listed as her father. The section for child’s father was blank, but the registered name of the child was Ann Eliza Lambert Winstanley. Coincidentally — in 1881, there is a 24-year-old boarder named John Lambert. I wonder!
